Without the picture, all of you would have a different picture. Bunch of perverts around here, I swear.

I’m sorry you had to experience the gross sauce they use on their tiny cold burgers and even colder fries. Please locate your nearest Whataburger asap.
lol j/k :] How was it?
My first time had me in full “ wtf, no mames guey” mode and in a frantic search for something to eat before lunch was over

That's too bad. Try Five Guys. It'll change your perception of good.

LOL.
SHOTS FIRED.
The burger wars are in full swing.

Burgers are okay, but I hate their fries that somehow defy the laws of thermodynamics by going from scalding to ice cold from the time the leave the fryer to the time they get back to where you are sitting.

Texan pride much ? ;)

So what did you think? I have not had an In-N-Out burger since the last time I was in SoCal (I was 16 or 17), but it was one of the best I’ve had.
Someone else mentioned “5 guys” burgers, they are amazing. Probably my favorite.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 16:00 |

its because the fries are so thin, that they transfer the heat/cold so quickly.

Fast food hamburgers are an incredibly subjective thing. That said, I have had In-N-Out, and I can subjectively say that it was a forgettable experience.

Jim Parsons (Texan) > Rick Perry (Texan)
But no, just a huge fan of fast food and In and Out is pretty much at the bottom of my list. Better shakes than Whataburger, like, a lot! better

A real estate agent took me to an In and Out when I was in Irvine. She acted like she was about to introduce me to manna from heaven. Apparently they have a huge cult following, and when they came to Dallas, it was a big deal in the paper. I thought they were just okay. Nothing special.
Being from the Midwest, the cult burger of my youth is White Castle. They’re not good. Everybody knows it. That’s not the point. But if you’re stoned or drunk at 2 a.m., for some reason they’re just what you gotta have.

Can confirm. Whataburger is better.

We’ve got them in NJ. I love ‘em, but end up eating way too many.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 16:19 |

There’s something about ‘em that does that. My theory is the dehydrated onions they use are marinated in crack cocaine.
Somehow they’re even better reheated the next morning.

In-N-Out < Whataburger < P.Terry’s (for all you central Texas peeps)
I grew up in SoCal, and In-N-Out can go suck it. I was sad when In-N-Out followed me to TX.
CAVEAT: It’s the only place I know of that serves a Neapolitan shake
![]() 03/23/2016 at 16:27 |

How the hell do you get a shake to stay neapolitan?
Never heard of P.Terry’s. Is it a chain or a one-off local joint?
![]() 03/23/2016 at 16:28 |

Can confirm. White Castle is somehow very good and simultaneously horrifically bad.

went to high school in Texas, and never liked Whataburger much. I was all about Sonic. When Sonic came to SoCal I was pretty underwhelmed.
Move to SoCal for college and never left. Partially because In N Out is amazing.
As for the fries...I always get em animal style and eat em with a fork ;)

I don’t like Five Guys at all. Twice the size and cost of In N Out and half the taste.
And their fries are a disgusting, sloppy mess.

Punch Burger (Local Indianapolis burger place) > all other burger places.
Just look at these things.
The “Burnt Cheese” burger is the best. They basically just put a piece of cheese on the grill so it gets all crispy. Also, the burgers look exactly like the pictures in real life.

P.Terry’s is a local chain, only in central Texas, as far as I know.
As to the shake...
Honestly, I never really questioned how they do it...
...
EDIT: I looked it up:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
In-n-Out: Neapolitan Shake
All three shake flavors in one delicious cup. Because shakes are so thick, the flavors stay separated. Surprisingly good..

The great thing about White Castle is that they go through you so fast, you’ll be able to eat more a few hours later.
Story time - My grandfather had a friend who came to Indiana from eastern Europe, I think it may have been Poland. As soon as he got off the plane, he decided to go try an American burger. So he went to White Castle and ordered one burger. Needless to say, he was very confused when he got it and it was tiny.

OMG!!!!! Dude that looks so damn good!!!!!! Yeah these little random burger places will always beat out the big chains. Good stuff!

mmmm Sonic! Sonic rules when you don’t know what you want. They have a huge awesome menu!

The greatest thing is that most of the time the small time shops cost about the same as a normal burger (or any food, really) place.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 17:09 |

Most of it isn’t very good though (at least I don’t think it is anymore)...the drinks and the tater tots do rule, I have to say.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 17:12 |

oh indeed. There are a good couple small places around my job. $6.50-$8.50 ish for lunch specials (fresh made bacon cheeseburger, fries, and drink)
![]() 03/23/2016 at 17:17 |

Sometimes I order tots and drink there and the burger somewhere else :]

That’s not the way I like to think about it, but you’re not wrong.
I assume your grandfather’s friend caught on pretty quickly and ordered at least another half dozen like the rest of us.

By far my most favorite place to eat.

Ultimately it’s a futile argument. Hodad’s > any other burger joint. Not just for the burgers either. Their fries, onions rings and shakes are all crazy good.
The entire city of San Diego went into mourning when the owner passed away a couple of years ago

There is place in San Antonio called Criss Madrid’s Burgers that is also just extra triple yummy. Their owner of the same name also passed away a couple years ago and the town was rocked :’( Some of those places just have that impact

I lost my In-N-Out Burger virginity at the one across the street from UNLV in Vegas...

Yeah. Five Guys will make McDonalds seem like a gourmet restaurant.
